The Legacy Builders: Meet Chantal Carter
Welcome to The Legacy Builders — a special feature series I’ve created as Co-Editor of BE Magazine’s Work section. I launched this series to spotlight women who are doing more than showing up for a job — they’re leading with conviction, building with purpose, and using their work to leave something that lasts.
You’ll hear directly from women influencing boardrooms, raising families, launching ideas, leading classrooms, and shaping culture — each sharing how faith and purpose show up in the work they do. Through these candid Q&As, you’ll find insight and encouragement to bring your beliefs to the front lines of whatever you’re building — from your business to your daily life.
This series is a reminder that Monday isn’t something to survive — it’s a space to show up with vision, faith, and fire. Whether your work already flows from what you believe — or you’re still finding your way there — you’re in the right place.
Read on, be inspired & let’s get to work!

Meet Chantal Carter
Chantal Carter is the founder of Love & Nudes, Canada’s 1st Nude Skin Tone Intimates for Black Women and WOC. She’s a transformational speaker, entrepreneur, and wellness advocate with award-winning work in inclusive fashion and wellness. Recognized with the Black Designers of Canada Excellence Award (2020), the Nasim Somani Leadership Excellence Award (2024), and a Gold SABRE Award for purpose-driven branding, Chantal speaks with authenticity and impact to drive change, connection, and courage.
What first sparked your passion for the work you’re doing today — and how did your values or faith influence your decision to start?
It really began from a place of frustration and then purpose. When I looked around, I didn’t see representation that reflected the true beauty of women of colour in the intimate apparel space. It felt like a piece of our humanity was missing from the conversation about beauty and belonging. That sparked Love & Nudes... to create something inclusive, but also to restore dignity and visibility.
My faith guided every step. I believe God placed that fire in me to fill a gap that wasn’t just about fashion, but about identity and self-worth. I’ve learned that when you walk in alignment with the values He places in your heart, even your frustration can become fuel for divine purpose.
Was there a defining moment when you felt guided or supported in your journey?
Yes...there was a moment when I was going through one of the darkest periods of my life. I felt such deep aloneness and despair that I honestly thought about how much easier it would be not to live. It was in that broken space that God revealed Himself to me in the most intimate way.
I began to notice a recurring sensation in my body...a peace that didn’t make sense — and one day I asked, “Lord, is this You?” And He confirmed it. From that moment, I started noticing synchronicities I couldn’t ignore — like repeating numbers and signs that followed me everywhere, especially when I was in Antigua. That’s part of why I returned there — to heal, to listen, and to let God rebuild me from the inside out.
How do you stay connected to what really matters while growing your career?
I stay grounded by remembering why I started and who I’m doing it for. Every day I remind myself that I’m a vessel for something bigger than me. When the business side gets noisy, I return to gratitude. I read the Bible every morning, and I often receive the most incredible downloads of wisdom and peace.
I talk with God throughout the day — not just in prayer, but in conversation, and I journal what I’m grateful for. That helps me remember that He didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Practicing grace with myself allows me to lead from love instead of striving.
What kind of impact do you hope your life and work will have — on your community, the world, or future generations?
My hope is to help a million souls remember who they truly are, who God created them to be before the world told them otherwise. I want women to know that their worth isn’t tied to cultural or societal expectations, but to their divine identity.
Whether it’s through inclusive fashion, healing conversations, or transformational coaching, I want my legacy to be one of remembrance — helping people reconnect to the light God already placed within them.
What would you say to a woman who feels pulled toward something more — but isn’t sure where to start?
Start by being still. God often whispers before He shouts. Sometimes we’re waiting for clarity, but He’s waiting for our surrender. Ask Him to reveal your next step, not the whole plan, just the next move, and trust that He’ll meet you there. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. Walk by faith, even if your knees are shaking. That first “yes” will unlock doors you never knew existed.
Practice gratitude daily for something, even the eyes you have to see with. When you're thankful, you stay open to His direction.
