THIS MONTH IN BE

Her-story

Susie McEntire is more than a famous last name.

For 25 years, what people saw on stage was very different from what was happening behind closed doors. While she was singing about God and raising three children, she was living in a marriage that she describes as physically, verbally, and spiritually abusive.

Her story is not simply about leaving a difficult marriage. It’s about the years it took to understand what God was asking of her, how He was using her journey to develop her faith, and refine her character to further use her for His glory.

Peace, Boundaries & Difficult People

There are people who bring out the best in us and then there are the people who make us want to say the very thing we promised God, ourselves and everyone we love that we would never say. Sometimes, the difficult person is someone we love deeply so how do we remain gracious without becoming doormats? How do we set boundaries without becoming bitter? How do we stay composed when we feel hurt, threatened or downright angry?

Beyond Good Intentions: Rethinking How Our Work Makes a Difference

For years, I assumed that seeing the need meant I was responsible for responding to it.

I no longer believe that.

I still believe our work is one of the most powerful ways we serve others and shape our communities. But I have learned that meaningful work requires more than availability. It also requires discernment.

Discernment is not simply seeing a need; it is understanding your responsibility toward that need. We are responsible not only for honing and using our gifts, but for discerning where, when and how those gifts should be used.

Read on to discover the four unglamorous, cost-free, and deeply biblical "non-negotiables" that will actually transform your health, your strength, and your peace of mind.

Set Free: The Gift of Forgiveness

‍I used to think forgiveness was something I owed the person who hurt me. Years later, I realized it may have been one of the greatest gifts God gave me — for me.
