Welcome to The Legacy Builders — a special feature series I’ve created as Co-Editor of BE Magazine’s Work section. I launched this series to spotlight women who are doing more than showing up for a job … they’re leading with conviction, building with purpose, and using their work to leave something that lasts.
You’ll hear directly from women influencing boardrooms, raising families, launching ideas, leading classrooms, and shaping culture, each sharing how faith and purpose show up in the work they do. Through these candid Q&As, you’ll find insight and encouragement to bring your beliefs to the front lines of whatever you’re building, from your business to your daily life.
This series is a reminder that Monday isn’t something to survive, it’s a space to show up with vision, faith, and fire. Whether your work already flows from what you believe, or you’re still finding your way there, you’re in the right place.
Read on, be inspired & let’s get to work!

What first sparked your passion for the work you’re doing today?
When I realized that creativity and connection transform culture everywhere, every time, without exception. Drawing since childhood and starting my first company at sixteen years old, I set out to connect people with creativity.
I believe creativity, faith, and community were intended to live in the same room, not as strangers, as integrated parts of the whole. The integration of these three elements releases God’s love, producing solutions that raise the water level for humanity.
My role in life is to serve, whether in the arts, governance, business, industry, commerce, education, or care. Transformational care occurs through applied creativity within each expression of culture and community.
What kind of impact do you hope your life and work will have?
I hope my life and work help people find home. A place where we can know the intimacy and love of our Creator, where people are seen, valued, and restored to a place of courage and creativity. Where they know He sees them, and loves them. A place where they can encounter healing, expression, and purpose. If I can carry and deliver the hospitality of heaven, the culture of heaven, in a habitational invitational place on earth, then I will have fulfilled my purpose.
I invest in legacy moments. My passion is for us to outlive our lives. I want to invest in people, spaces, systems, and communities that make it easier for others to rise.
If future generations inherit more possibilities because I said yes, that is legacy living.
What would you say to a woman who feels pulled toward something more — but isn’t sure where to start?
Start with the whisper, rather than a full blueprint.
Pay attention to what repeatedly tugs at you — the idea that won’t leave, the dream that feels both exciting and impossible, or what makes you livid – a challenge without an answer -- yet. Let the assignment woo you.
I have come to recognize that clarity grows with movement rather than hesitation. Do what you can with what you have. You are the lead character of the story He is writing in you, and with you. Ask Him who you are. Wait, trust, focus on His reply, close your eyes, dream, pursue, and act on your conviction.
How would you describe your personal purpose?
My purpose is to love Him, and to love you. I do this by leading transformation through arts and culture. Literally, I CAMP. Create, Activate, Mentor, and Publish opportunities and efforts that lead to transformation for us as individuals and, subsequently, to community transformation.
The method used will define impact, and the medium that conveys that purpose varies, yet the message is constant. If someone feels shunned or shamed in my presence, I have failed in my faith, and the impact of my good intentions will not produce results.
I’m here to build, to uplift, to connect, and to help others step into the fullness of who they were created to be. I am an advocate.
What were the biggest risks you’ve taken — and how did faith guide you through them?
First, let me say that my faith animated and fueled each of these decisions. Fueled in faith, bathed in prayer, and walked out in obedience at a very high cost, and I would do it all again.
These include:
Marrying and being a mom was the biggest risk and yielded the greatest joy and fruit of my life.
Seeking and establishing safety for my children amid domestic abuse.
Serving in public office for twelve years, while designing transformational practices in education in partnership with elected officials, parents, staff, and students.
Faith guides me and reminds me that obedience is never wasted. Even when I cannot see the outcome, I trust the One who called me forward, and I lead by following Him.
