Gifting at Christmas
Merry almost Christmas, friends! What a joy to be entering the Christmas season with snow on the ground and a grateful heart.
Instead of leaving a long article for you to read and digest, I wanted to leave you an encouragement from my heart on investing around Christmas and gifts.
The pressure to over invest at this time is high and great professional marketers can be credited for that. They are just doing their job in making the most sparkly options look appealing to your investment dollars. Don’t let them get you! You can make great choices without over investing.
If you spend more time thinking ahead to create a thoughtful gift for somebody, you’ll honour them more than you would be just throwing money at something. Thinking ahead to thoughtful gifts places the person receiving at the center of them instead of how you look giving it or what they will think about how you’ve invested. Thoughtful gifts make up for costly gifts.
Really taking the time to think ahead on gifting something special and being creative is more important and lovely than a blanket gift that costs more money. If you create an experience, you’ll create a memory that will live on longer than a toy, piece of clothing or gift card.
A few ideas that are cool experiences I’m gifting this year:
Seeds for a garden to my niece and nephew that we can plant together in the spring and they can enjoy in the summer
A basket of farm produce to enjoy with friends or family around Christmas (fresh pasta with olive oil and garlic grown from our garden, maple syrup and homemade pancake mix etc.)
Vouchers to stay a night at the farm with your family
A wreath made from greenery around our house
And lastly, some people really just need the cash. Don’t hold back when you know that’s more important to them at this time than receiving a gift or experience. Discernment is always important.
Bless you and your family this Christmas! Make it one to remember, not one to pay for later.
