<image:title>Money - Your Dollar is the Lever, Personal Spending and Community Vision - Our faith institutions in Canada are already economic powerhouses, generating an estimated $18 billion in economic value annually through their activities, according to research by think tanks like Cardus.</image:title>
<image:caption>This substantial contribution proves the inherent financial capacity within our strength as people to come together around our beliefs. However, this capacity remains largely external and led me to the question, How do we internalize this strength and multiply it for more good? This article shifts our focus from simply generating value to retaining and multiplying it, recognizing that our true wealth is built by the daily, strategic spending choices of every single person in our faith based community. Since vision is the grounding force that guides financial action, we know that without a clear goal, your personal money habits drift. If we had a shift in communal vision to simply want to multiply money within our network, we can use our individual investment choices everyday to make it happen.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/1761842077656-35OSRXFWLHAAZZ7NLZ6G/unsplash-image-yaMNhzAqhUg.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Money - Your Dollar is the Lever, Personal Spending and Community Vision - You strengthen a fellow entrepreneur while you empower them to hire and invest their dollars back into the same circle. Every time money leaves your account, you have the chance to correct the capital leakage, to increase the circulation rate, and to build the economic firewall around our faith communities. The work of building this economic structure begins with your next purchase. Our success depends on rigorous day to day commitment to multiplying our cash within our communities. When we adopt the habit of asking "who within the community can I pay/use/hire," we increase the circulation time of every dollar. This intentional choice creates stable internal cash flow, which helps us weather storms and can be reinvested in the community and our churches through generous giving. Now the next question here, that might hurt a little, Is my business worthy of being invested in by my community? Let’s be the business people and workers who approach our work with a spirit of excellence be generous with people, complete work on time and on budget, consistently deliver, act out of the highest levels of integrity and be honest about your weaknesses.</image:title>

<image:title>Money - Time is not Money - Back to the calculations… The “time is money” equation only makes sense when cash flow is abundant—when revenue flows directly from the hours you’re working. It doesn’t work at all when you’re starting up a business and need to focus on building cash flow, or when you have more than one business on the go. If I had a lineup of people willing to pay me $1,000/hr, then yes, I could sacrifice a basic job in the business and pay someone $100/hr to handle it in another business.</image:title>

<image:title>Money - Time is not Money - From selling eggs at $9/dozen, to designing a method for drying garlic, to loading meat chickens into crates for the processor at 7 a.m., to bailing out a septic system—you might not expect the businessperson in the tall tower with the Chanel pin on my blazer and exclusive wearer of Manolos to be doing all this. But from a cash flow perspective, if I have the time, the knowledge, and the tools—and I’d otherwise be paying someone else—I’ve committed to doing it myself. And it’s done wonders for my bottom line.</image:title>

<image:title>Money - Time is not Money - Side note: have you ever noticed the fitness of farmers? The successful ones do so much physical work themselves that their bodies show it. Ever see a farmer pick up a calf? That’s the equivalent weight of a small woman, and they do it all the time, sometimes they even have to grab one and run. I tell you these stories to illustrate a few points.</image:title>

<image:title>Money - Chicken Math - One morning, I collected the eggs from all the 55 hens in the chicken coop and spotted one straggler egg in the corner. As I set the basket with this morning’s fresh eggs on a ledge to free my hands for a deep lean to grab the last egg, I leaned over the roosting bar to reach into the corner for a beautiful blue egg. In an instant, the basket I had collected that morning’s eggs in fell off the ledge, smashing most of the eggs in the basket and dropping the rest onto the floor while I remained in a matrix like position, blue egg in hand.</image:title>

<image:title>Relationships - The Myth of “Just Stay Positive” - It sounds comforting. Encouraging, even. But when life hits hard; grief, betrayal, loss, disappointment—it can feel hollow at best, and harmful at worst. So we have to ask: Does God ever actually tell us to just be positive?</image:title>
<image:caption>No. What Scripture offers is not positivity, it’s something far more honest and sustaining.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’ve been known, even amongst my friends, to be a little too confronting. To make people feel uncomfortable, even challenged to have to defend their beliefs and it gets uncomfortable. I’ve been told, on a few occasions that I don’t hold space for other people’s opinions, and it can feel very heavy. I promise you, I don’t want to come across this way. It grieves my heart. But my “nature” is to stand up and fight, influence for “my way or the highway” and keep going way longer than I should. Has this ever happened to you? C’mon now, don’t leave me out her on my own, give me at least a nod as you read this that I’m not alone!</image:caption>

<image:title>Relationships - The Fun and Frustrations of Dating, Sex, and Love as a Mid-30 Year Old Christian Woman - Interview with Money Editor, Rosemary Horwood - - SRJ: Rosemary, thank you for sharing your current experience as a 37 year old Christian woman dating in this modern day, it’s been a loooooong time since I’ve been “out there” in the dating world! Although, I should share that I briefly scoped out Christian Mingle when I was in throes of deciding whether or not to stay in my marriage upon learning of my husband’s infidelity, and I can tell you the pool of candidates (at that time) was slim pickings at best! I quickly took down my profile and decided that working on my marriage would be less work, lol! But in all seriousness, I invited you to share with our audience because I know there are many women who can benefit from your wisdom and lived experience. Again, thank you for answering my questions, sharing so transparently, and being willing to record our conversation on Zoom (link can be found at the end of this article).</image:title>

<image:title>Relationships - Choosing Your Word for the Year: A Faith‑Filled Reset for Your Mind, Your Relationships, and Your Purpose - January has a quiet power to it. It invites reflection without demanding perfection. For many women of faith, the start of a new year carries a familiar tension: I want to grow, but I don’t want another list of resolutions that leaves me discouraged by February.</image:title>
<image:caption>What if, instead of striving harder, we chose to live more intentionally? One of the most practical, spiritually grounded tools I’ve come to love is choosing a Word of the Year—a single word that becomes a filter for your thoughts, decisions, habits, and relationships. It’s not trendy for trendiness’ sake; it’s transformational because it aligns your inner world with God’s purposes.</image:caption>

<image:title>Relationships - Holiday Hacks: Less Stress, More Presence — A Christian Woman’s Guide to Grace-Filled Holidays - The holidays are often painted as the “most wonderful time of the year,” yet they can also be the most stressful. Between family dynamics, financial strain, and the pressure to create the perfect Christmas moment (Hallmark anyone?), even the best of us can feel stretched thin.</image:title>
<image:caption>I’ve lived through holidays where joy and tension coexisted at the same table. Where a smile covered exhaustion, and conversations tiptoed around old wounds or sensitive subjects. Maybe you’ve been there too — trying to hold the peace while your internal dialogue prays, “Lord, help me not say the wrong thing.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Relationships - When Words Kill by Rev Shirley Wolstenholme - Have you ever loved the wrong guy and still strongly believed that he was the one? Well, I did. I was “alone” for most of my life until my childhood sweetheart found me again after 33 years and asked me to marry him. I thought all the pain and trauma I had gone through was now at a turning point. My fairytale quickly turned into a nightmare. I married a narcissistic sociopath at the age of 43 and for 7 years I was slowly manipulated and eventually isolated from everyone.</image:title>
<image:caption>I found myself in a complete pile of ashes at the age of 50. I didn’t know who I was anymore. I never let go of God, but I thought He forgot about me.</image:caption>

<image:title>Relationships - The Weight of Grace: Learning to Love the Body I Have - When the Body Changes I’ve exercised most of my life. I’ve been active, slim, toned. Movement has always been my therapy and my joy. But at 57, something shifted. My once-flat stomach got soft, back fat appeared, and cellulite made its first uninvited appearance. At first it was just seven pounds, then ten, and now two years later, about fifteen extra pounds have settled in like an unexpected houseguest who has no plans to leave. No problem, I thought. I’ll cut sweets, go alcohol-free for Dry January, tack on an extra workout, walk farther. Done. But despite my efforts, the scale hardly budged. What did budge was my self-esteem.</image:title>

<image:title>Relationships - Friends for a Reason, a Season, or for Life - It got me thinking about the beautiful truth tucked into a phrase I once read:“Friends for a reason, friends for a season, and friends for a lifetime.” Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of meeting and building various types of relationships with remarkable people—some vital to my healing, growth, survival, and success. I’ve also lost contact with many, not out of conflict, but simply because life moved on. That’s just how it goes sometimes. Scripture tells us that “there is a time for everything” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)—and that includes friendships. Not everyone is meant to be your friend forever.</image:title>

<image:title>Relationships - “If I’m Being Honest…” — What We’re Really Saying When We Say That - As a Christian life and leadership coach with a deep curiosity about human behavior and communication, I often notice subtle patterns in how we relate to one another—not just in our professional lives, but in our faith communities, families, and friendships. If you’re like me, you often hear phrases like these:</image:title>
<image:caption>“If I’m being honest…” “No offense, but…” “I don’t mean to be rude, but…” “Please don’t take this the wrong way…”</image:caption>

<image:title>Relationships - Come Out of Hiding to Live as Your God-Given, Essential Self - The Journey to Becoming Our Truest Self</image:title>
<image:caption>The great news is that God created us for transformation! Our minds are literally wired to grow and learn. Our brains are one of the most complex things in the universe—we literally have more neural connections than there are stars in the universe! And like the universe that’s constantly growing and changing, God made us to be adaptive and agile, to be able to think about thinking, to analyze our own actions and feelings and to seek purpose and meaning. We can re-wire our neural pathways based on changes we make in our thinking, our behaviour and our attitudes. So, transformation starts with insight – learning about why we do what we do; but then it must move to changes in our thinking and behaving and how we respond so that we gain wisdom. But even that is not enough as we need to practice the new thinking and responding over and over again so that we re-wire our brains and pursue transformation. Transformation is the fruit of daily choices to live wisely, to respond intentionally in a better way. And in spite of our fear of vulnerability, the sting of rejection, the shame of being exposed, the lies that tell us we’re not enough—we must choose to show up anyway as our essential self. Because insight and wisdom are not enough for transformation, true change can only occur from the daily choices we make to choose a different, healthier response, so that over time, that new path becomes our norm. This is the process of allowing our essential self to emerge, to mature fully, and to fulfill our purposes. After being divorced for more than a decade to a “man of cloth” old school language for Pastor, God redeemed marriage for her. He restored her. And made all things new. This is the power of our God! Don’t be dismayed over your challenges, adversity, or mistakes. Believe that new things are possible. Do what you can to courageously take action and look for ways to forgive, have grace, redeem, and restore that which has been broken. It is possible. Happy New Year friends. <image:title>Faith - Perfected By Love: Learning to Love God and Others - “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13</image:title>
<image:caption>The ability to love and receive love is a profound and sacred part of what it is to be human. It’s interesting that when questioned which was the greatest commandment, Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” (Matthew 22:37-39). It sounds simple—love God and love others—and yet so often things get in the way.</image:caption>

<image:title>Faith - The Wonder of Christmas: A Journey Through Advent in the Psalms with Melinda Estabrooks - By guest writer Helena Smrcek</image:title>
<image:caption>There is something profoundly grounding about Advent—a season that invites us to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember why Christmas matters in the first place. Only a few people speak about Advent with as much warmth, clarity, and courage as Melinda Estabrooks, host and executive producer of the national television show See Hear Love. Recently, I had the gift of sitting down with Melinda and talking about life, faith, and her newest Advent resource, The Wonder of Christmas: A Guide Through Advent in the Psalms. What unfolded was a conversation rich with truth, tenderness, and the unmistakable presence of God’s grace.</image:caption>

<image:title>Faith - The Paradox of Joy and Suffering - We don’t need to live exceptionally long to realize that pain and suffering are a byproduct of life. Eventually, suffering arrives, breaking in like an intruder and wreaking havoc on our best-made plans, upending our hopes and dreams for the future and leaving us writhing in the ruins. Sometimes, pain can even cause us to question God.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - BOND OVER GLOSS - I’ve been thinking a great deal about bond repair treatments lately. Mostly because my ends are currently dry, brittle, crunchy, and, if I’m being honest, a little embarrassing. This is what happens when you swim in a pool with highlighted hair and absolutely no plan. No pre-conditioning, no soaking it with clean water first…nothing. Just straight into chemically treated water like I’m somehow exempt from consequences. I am not.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - Raising Brows - Brows are all about perspective.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - Rest Is Not a Reward…It’s the Work - I’ve never been good at resting. I push hard. I override signals. I laugh at slowing down. Rest has always felt too close to giving up.</image:title>
<image:caption>Like many women, I internalize the idea that exhaustion is proof. If you’re not tired, you’re not doing enough. Recovery feels indulgent. Optional. That belief is wrong.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lifestyle - Rest Is Not a Reward…It’s the Work - The idea of rest isn’t new. In Genesis, we are told that God rested. “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.” (Genesis 2:2-3 NIV)</image:title>

I recently changed my part. A full, intentional, decisive part change. My hair did not consent.</image:title>
<image:caption>It resisted. It fought. It flipped back the second I stopped looking at it. I would smooth it into place, feel victorious for about thirty seconds, and then catch my reflection only to discover my hair had quietly returned to its old ways. As if to say, nope. But I pressed on. Because sometimes you just know something must be done - even when it’s uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and mildly infuriating.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Scalp serums with antioxidants or SPF help protect exposed areas from UV damage and pollution. Sum Bum Scalp and Hair Mist with 30SPF ($20,99 on Amazon) is ideal for vacays or summer (Canadians don’t really need scalp spf in winter). The Ordinary Scalp Serum ($26,97 on Amazon) has hyaluronic acid for moisturizing benefits. Lightweight scalp oils (used sparingly) support the microbiome without clogging follicles. Try Leonor Greyl Regenerescence Scalp Stimulating Essential Oil ($58.53 on Amazon) or Renee Furterer Complex 5 for a few minutes or hours before shampooing (never overnight).</image:caption>

<image:caption>Root-lifting sprays or mousses make retraining a new part easier. Color Wow Raise-The-Root ($32,50 on Amazon) will win over the most stubborn hair. Heat protectant sprays are non-negotiable, especially when blow-drying against your natural fall. <image:caption>Weekly clarifying or exfoliating scalp treatments remove buildup that can interfere with growth and health. I make my own - a few drops of rosemary oil diluted with a carrier oil like jojoba or avocado oil (or both). I’m also a fan of Fable and Mane’s HoliRoots scalp oil and their Saha Scalp Scrub with Ginger and Pink Himalayan Salt. Protective accessories like silk scarves or hats during strong sun exposure reduce cumulative damage.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lifestyle - Silent Night: What a viral beauty/bio hack taught me. - Mintier makes a green barely-there version that is hypo allergenic and latex free. The Skinny Confidential took it to the beauty aisle with the chicest pastel-pink pieces imaginable that store in a bougie bedside coffret. ZZZ Mouth Tape is beard friendly if your hubby wants to join in. And yes, you can also cut a slit and use plain old ordinary scar tape (but it’s not as much fun).</image:title>
<image:caption>A small piece of advice: wait at least 15 minutes after applying your nighttime skincare before you tape. If you do it too soon, those rich creams and serums can make the tape slide right off. Let everything absorb, then press it down and exhale through your nose.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 1: Cleanse (…and maybe double cleanse)</image:title>
<image:caption>Double cleansing isn’t mandatory, but it’s worthwhile if you’ve been wearing a full face of makeup, or that waterproof SPF. The idea: start with an oil cleanser to melt away the longwear products. Follow with a water-based or “foam” cleanser to sweep away pollution and debris. Don’t get hung up on the word foam. The right cleanser should be gentle, ph balanced and not leave your skin feeling tight. K-beauty pro tip: skip the towel and let your skin stay a little damp after cleansing.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/022418d3-d506-4327-a9e8-cdc8e031252b/8+tips+%282%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 2: Tone</image:title>
<image:caption>These are not the astringent toners of our teen years. K-beauty toners are hydrating; they plump, prep, and soften the skin, like misting the soil before you water a thirsty plant. You can’t expect skin to absorb all the good stuff if you don’t prime it first.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/d12d47f8-1a54-4465-943b-623c31af461d/8+tips+%283%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 3: Essence and Serum</image:title>
<image:caption>Yes, this is technically “one step,” but it can involve multiple products. The rule: apply from thinnest to thickest. Ingredients might include: Antioxidants: fight free radicals (pollution and stress). Niacinamide: brightens and evens tone. Hyaluronic acid: hydration hero, makes skin look juicy. Peptides: signal your skin to firm up and smooth out fine lines. This is where K-beauty flexes its innovation muscles.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/14dd5785-6c6c-4eb1-83b8-a1ba4045c075/8+tips+%285%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 4: Eye Cream</image:title>
<image:caption>The skin around your eyes is paper-thin, treat is accordingly. Tap a grain-of-rice–sized amount around the orbital bone with your ring finger (the weakest finger). K-beauty pro tip: tapping and patting are the key motions in every step, except cleansing, for max absorption.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/feb10317-89ab-4a7e-b47e-9892cf3507d0/8+tips+%286%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 5: Emulsion (Optional)</image:title>
<image:caption>Think of emulsions as moisturizer-lite. Traditional K-beauty routines layer an emulsion before a thicker cream, especially in winter. You can skip it. But if your skin is Sahara-level dry, this step can add a cushion of hydration. Oily skin? You might stop with emulsion and call it a day.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 6: Moisturizer</image:title>
<image:caption>This is the sealant. Moisturizer locks everything in and protects your skin barrier. Pat it in so the skin truly absorbs rather than just wearing it like a mask.</image:caption>
</image:image>
<image:image>
<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/ae468bd8-8b05-4691-ae82-622a84dd7138/8+tips+%288%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway October Edition - Step 7: Sunscreen (Day) or Sleeping Mask (Night)</image:title>
<image:caption>If it’s morning: sunscreen, every single day. Yes, even when it’s cloudy, even when you’re indoors. UVA rays creep through windows, clouds, and your excuses. If it’s evening: swap sunscreen for a sleeping mask a few nights a week to seal in everything and keeps overnight bacteria at bay. Sheet or peel off - they supercharge your skincare routine while acting like Tupperware for your products.</image:caption>

<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway August Edition - Let’s talk bio hacks. It’s one of those buzzy words that sounds like something Silicon Valley bros and wellness influencers throw around in an infrared sauna. But at its core, biohacking is simply paying attention to your body and making small, intentional tweaks—food, light, sleep, supplements, mindset—that help it perform better.</image:title>
</image:image>

<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/a72a1871-36e5-4a03-b105-36338732bf71/unsplash-image-4OfaTz6SdYs.jpg</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - The BEat by Kara Alloway August Edition - Now here’s where it gets interesting. Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth.” That verse always puzzled me. I mean, I love a good spice—but being called to merely “season” the world felt a little… underwhelming. Sort of like being cast as the parsley garnish in a five-course tasting menu. But now? Knowing how salt functions in the body—working at the cellular level to sustain life, energy, and wholeness—alongside the living water? Mind blown. Salt doesn’t just sit on top and make things taste better. It goes in. It energizes. It helps transform. It enables every part of the body to do its job better. When Jesus said we’re the salt of the earth, He wasn’t calling us background seasoning—He was inviting us to be essential. Vital. Integrated.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - the caviar revival: From Haute Luxe to Weekend Indulgence - So what is it about these tiny pearls of salty goodness that keeps everyone talking (and tasting)?</image:title>
<image:caption>Once reserved for aristocrats, caviar—alongside Champagne, truffles, and foie gras—has long defined the ultimate in indulgent dining. But the tide has turned. These days, caviar has emerged as a somewhat “affordable” luxury— if you know what you’re buying. Originally, the term “caviar” was just a fancy word for sturgeon roe (eggs) but it has grown to include roe from a range of fish species—from the vibrant orange globes of salmon roe found at your local sushi counter to the petite, prized pearls of Beluga sturgeon. What makes real caviar expensive isn’t just the label—it’s the process. Depending on the species, sturgeon can take anywhere from 7 to 30 years to mature and produce eggs. That’s decades of care, regulation, and patience packed into each tin.</image:caption>
</image:image>

<image:loc>https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/65fb5cd26da24e5962c8e613/14d1bc7b-ce7b-42f6-81bd-53da4125358b/Untitled+design+%288%29.png</image:loc>
<image:title>Lifestyle - the caviar revival: From Haute Luxe to Weekend Indulgence - To qualify as caviar, the roe must be gently salted and cured—a process that varies by producer, resulting in distinct textures and flavour profiles. Today, most caviar is sustainably farmed in countries like Poland, Iran and Italy with most award-winning caviars coming from China believe it or not. Traditionally, there were only four “true” caviars: Almas, Beluga, Ossetra, and Sevruga—all from sturgeon. But modern food lovers have embraced other high-quality roes, including lumpfish, whitefish, and salmon caviar. These options are more accessible and just as worthy of a place on your table.</image:title>

<image:title>Lifestyle - Root Revival: A Testimony in Tangles - Hair loss is humbling. Like, “let me just Google ‘female pattern baldness in women who’ve tried everything’” humbling. I blamed stress, hormones, tight ponytails, my mother, my husband, my boys, my past life as a Real Housewife… until I looked in the mirror and realized it was time for a team approach. Not just a miracle product—more like a miracle routine. So here’s what actually worked for me over four months (and we’re still growing strong): My MVP oil potion: rosemary oil in avocado + jojoba oil carriers, spritzed on scalp (rosemary is nature’s minoxidil) and lengths, left for 20 min under my HotHeads cap for deep heat activation (a very chic lewk). Weekly hair masks: alternating between Shu Umera and Chris Appleton’s Money Mask (money well spent) under the same trusty cap for the same tedious time of 20 min. Post-shampoo and conditioner scalp serum: Keranique—sulfate-free, safe for all hair types, and unlike some hair motivators, doesn’t smell like sadness or broken dreams. Ingredients like keratin to strengthen and caffeine to stimulate—yes please! Supplements: Viviscal Extra Strength because I’m impatient and need new growth faster than 45 days. And yes, I wait until my hair is ¾ dry before combing—because breakage is not the move.</image:title>

<image:title>Work - Flawsome: How perfectly imperfect is your edge in an AI world</image:title>
<image:caption>Let’s talk about the elephant in the room, shall we? Generative AI - whether your feelings about it are good, bad or indifferent - is here to stay. To say that it’s transforming the way we live, work and play, would be the understatement of the millennia. From research to copy writing, data analysis to complex problem solving, automations to artistic design, its impact is prolific and can be seen and felt everywhere. We’re in a time where “prompt engineers” are in high demand, and hiring managers are filtering for AI literacy in resumes. The question is no longer whether to use AI or not, because its pervasiveness makes that entirely a non-option.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Welcome to the sea of sameness. Truly one of the most terrifying places anyone could find themselves. Whether you’ve been writing a book, providing a service, or applying for jobs, for the most part you hope that whatever you’re creating, producing or working on will in some way be different than what’s already out in the world. Otherwise, why do it if nobody cares to pay attention to it?</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Flawsome: How perfectly imperfect is your edge in an AI world</image:title>
<image:caption>The saddest thing is that while many people feverishly work to create the perfect AI version of themselves to share with the world, they’re losing the very thing that makes them stand out: their flaws, weirdness, quirks, and imperfections. Humans don’t connect with perfect messaging or flawless design, we connect with others we relate to, and that relating usually happens through our weaknesses, our struggles, and our imperfections.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The calendar says September 1st, but your brain’s at the beach, still in vacation mode. Guess what? You’re not alone. Everyone’s thinking the same thing: “Didn’t we just start the summer? How did we get to September already?” And not just that, but also: “What do you mean there are only four months left in the year?” Disclaimer: take a breath and keep reading. Don’t worry, we cover that scary countdown further on.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sometimes I feel like everywhere I look, there’s some book, podcast, or social media post, touting the keys to success and achieving greatness. With all the content on this topic you’d think we’ve become a society obsessed with success – and not just any success – specifically fast success & fast growth. We don’t want to wait years and endure the challenges along the way; we want greatness now. From diets promising overnight results to experts claiming they have the ultimate hack to business fortunes … our world today seems to be orbiting around this idea that fast success is the aim of life.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - A Kingdom Entrepreneur’s Perspective - From the Beatles’ A Hard Day’s Night to Dolly Parton’s barely getting’ by because she’s workin’ 9 to 5, in a world that is increasingly addicted to busyness, the concept of work is in need of serious PR.</image:title>
<image:caption>As a recovering workaholic and a self-professed Kingdom Entrepreneur, I’ve always been unapologetic for the God in me. But, in Christian circles, faith and work often seem worlds apart—like church on Sunday and emails on Monday operate in two different dimensions. Maybe that’s why so many people check their faith at the door—whether they’re running a business or clocking in for a corporation.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - A Kingdom Entrepreneur’s Perspective - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>As I recently said at a See Hear Love event: in addition to everything else, faith-based businesses need to integrate stewardship with leadership. To me it means that in addition to chasing corporate accolades that validate my skills, I’m also seeking genuine connections because I’m also thirsting for another kind of “well done.” I couldn’t find a place for myself in traditional ministry, but in business, I found freedom, strength, and clarity. I found purpose. And I found a business edge in partnering with God who guides every move I make.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - A Kingdom Entrepreneur’s Perspective - Walking the Talk: Faith as a Business Practice Living out your faith in business takes courage. It means being different. After 23+ years as an entrepreneur, I’ve reached the point where I can confidently say: I am a God-fearing Christian businesswoman—and I’m proud of it! That doesn’t mean I’m perfect. It means I’m bold enough to live what I believe, without apology. And here’s how that belief system translates into our business—these are the values we’ve adopted at The PR Department as our plumbline, guiding every decision and interaction:</image:title>

<image:title>Work - New Year Ahead - How’s your Vision? - The challenge with that is, just like driving a car, if you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll never know when you get there and worse, you’ll eventually run out of gas and get stuck at the side of the road hoping someone comes by to rescue you. If you’ve ever run out of gas, you’ll know it’s not a pleasant ordeal, especially when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere with no cell service.</image:title>

<image:title>Work - Consumerism as a Force for Good - Yet, there’s something about the consumerism focus of the holiday season that’s been weighing on my mind. As retailers and businesses have been preparing for holiday shoppers, sales trend forecasters everywhere are predicting a softer buying season. North American’s seem to be struggling with an internal conflict about spending vs saving this holiday (Vericasts 2024 Holiday Retail Trendwatch). And not for no reason.</image:title>

<image:title>Work - Consumerism as a Force for Good - Could consumerism be a solution?</image:title>
<image:caption>While it may be the easy answer to say that consumerism is the cause of every problem we face from environmental issues to poverty, it may also be the key to solving these problems.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - Consumerism as a Force for Good - Flip the business script</image:title>
<image:caption>Think about it. If we boycott buying all together, what happens? Factories close, jobs are terminated, and the most vulnerable people suffer. There’s no question that consumerism drives business, the trick is to flip the script and build a new business model that solves problems instead of adding to them.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - 4 Questions to Find your North Star - In the business world the concept was made popular with Simon Sinek’s Ted Talk ‘Start with Why’. Simon Sinek postulated that people don’t buy ‘what you do’, or ‘how you do it’, but they buy ‘why you do it’. His now famous ‘golden circle’ has sparkled on the whiteboard of many companies over the years.</image:title>
<image:caption>But have you ever tried asking a group of people what their ‘why’ is? How about ‘why does this company exist’? Or how about ‘why are we doing what we do?’ The response is mostly crickets, except for the sound of the odd feet shuSling under the table as people’s eyes dart around the room uncomfortably. Imagine asking your friend – ‘do you know your why’, what would their response be? The challenge with asking the ‘why’ or ‘purpose’ question directly, is that it’s uncomfortable. Not only can it be paralyzing, it can sometimes even come across as confrontational. So how do we find our ‘why’ if it’s so hard to answer? How do we unlock purpose? My suggestion is don’t start with why, start with what.</image:caption>

<image:title>Work - 4 Questions to Find your North Star - If you think about purpose as your North Star, then Ikigai is like the guide that helps you find it. Now who wouldn’t want to find greater meaning and joy in their life? Who wouldn’t want to feel like all aspects of their life – relationships, job, hobbies, ambitions, etc. - were all aligned and working together for a greater purpose? The question you’re probably asking is ‘Sounds great, but how does it work?’ Think of Ikigai as a framework, or better said, a series of questions that overlap. And for all you visual thinkers, Ikigai is mostly depicted as a Venn diagram (one of my favourite ways to illustrate relationships and common themes).</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - Chasing Light When the Path is Dark - By Darlene L. Turner, New York Times and Publishers Weekly Bestselling Author</image:title>
<image:caption>No one warns you about the dark stretch of the road when everything goes silent while chasing your God-given dreams. When the doors remain closed, prayers go unanswered, rejections pile up, and we can’t see the hand in front of our face, we wonder if we heard the calling correctly. The waiting is excruciating, and the questions accumulate. Sound familiar? The saying ‘been there, done that, bought the t-shirt’ comes to mind. God never promised a brightly lit road, only enough light to keep forging ahead—one baby step at a time. That’s where trust comes in. This is what I’ve discovered in my pursuit of becoming a published author. Little did I know I would become a New York Times bestselling author within five years of publishing my first book. But let me back up. That’s not where the story starts. Not even close.</image:caption>

This is the pattern God chooses to form His people into vessels capable of carrying what He has entrusted to them. Many people give up before ever seeing the fulfillment of what God has promised, because the road is marked by countless “valley of the shadow of death” moments—places where we forget that He is our Shepherd.</image:title>
<image:caption>In January of 2019, when I learned that my husband, Matt, and I would be stepping into the role of Lead Pastors, I had no idea it would usher in a years-long season of making. We took over the church in Hamilton, Ontario, from my parents, who had planted and pastored it faithfully for 20 years. At first, things were going well. The church was growing, momentum was building, and hope was tangible. Then March of 2020 arrived—and everything changed.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Throughout Scripture, we see how the Unchanging One loves to do new things. That’s life with Christ: being gently nudged into transformation. The new year naturally invites us to turn the page: a fresh start, a new chapter, a beginning shaped by hope rather than fear.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Redefining Greatness - By Chelsea Gomez, Photographer I love reading people’s bios. That’s because I have this odd curiosity of trying to put together someone’s professional trajectory by analyzing the bullet points of their life’s great achievements. It’s my way of figuring out the roadmap of how to get where I want to go based on how someone else did it. And while we would all love a straight shot to the life we want, most people have much more windy paths. And sometimes complete hard stops.</image:title>
<image:caption>So what do we do when we come to a bend; when our desires feel like they’re at war in our heart?</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Redefining Greatness - Whenever my husband is asked to tell the story of how he met me, he loves to quip, “I met her as an activist, dated her as a defender of kids in war and married her as a journalist.” That’s because those are the bullet points of my professional history. I advocated for the poor in Latin America with Habitat for Humanity. I campaigned for ending the use of child soldiers with General Romeo Dallaire, and I dove into journalism as an investigative journalist with CBC.</image:title>
<image:caption>During the years when my career was unfolding, I always had my camera tucked in my bag. I documented my adventures, the incredible people I met, and the wonderful cultures I was able to experience. It was present, but not my focus.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Finding Faith, Freedom, and the Power of Helping Others - By Emily O’Brien, Founder of Comeback Snacks I grew up in a family where Sunday mornings meant church, community, and connection. My dad made sure we were there every week, no matter the weather. I was an altar server and a reader, which meant I learned to speak clearly and confidently in front of people long before I realized it would become part of my purpose. Those early lessons in faith and public speaking planted seeds that I would not fully understand until much later in life.</image:title>
<image:caption>Years later, when I found myself facing one of the hardest chapters of my story:being charged and ultimately sentenced to prison, those same roots of faith became my anchor. But I did not rediscover that anchor right away.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Finding Faith, Freedom, and the Power of Helping Others - As the company grew, so did its purpose. We began hiring people who had been incarcerated and partnering with organizations that support reintegration. Every bag of popcorn we sell is a symbol of resilience and renewal. It is proof that good things can grow from the hardest soil.</image:title>
<image:caption>Helping others heal has become part of my own healing. Every time someone tells me that our popcorn inspired them to forgive, to try again, or to give someone else a chance, I feel that same divine presence that I first felt during house arrest. It is a constant reminder that God works through our pain, our purpose, and our people.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Held in the Fire: A Testimony of Faith, Loss, and Wholeness - I was seeing patients, leading workouts, and caring for my young children with a startling efficiency and smile—while feeling numb and dead inside.</image:title>
<image:caption>From the outside, I looked fine. Functional. Focused. But on the inside, I was unraveling. After the initial crippling, soul-wrenching pain of losing someone too young—someone who meant everything—came a quieter ache. One that felt like betrayal. I knew God could have stopped it. I believed He had the power to spare us this devastating tragedy. So why didn’t He? That question haunted me. I felt abandoned by the very One I had always trusted, and the weight of that spiritual disorientation was almost heavier than the grief itself.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - From Brokenness to Wholeness: My Journey of Healing, Purpose, and Kingdom Impact - Growing up, I was like many teenage girls, shy, insecure, and quietly longing to feel loved and valued. I didn’t know who I was, and I certainly didn’t understand my worth. At just 15 years old, I entered into a relationship with a boy from my high school that would change the course of my life. At first, it felt exciting. He gave me attention I had never received before, and I mistook intensity for love. But it didn’t take long for that relationship to become emotionally and physically abusive.</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - From Brokenness to Wholeness: My Journey of Healing, Purpose, and Kingdom Impact - I no longer carry the guilt or shame that used to haunt me. The confusion and torment that came from abuse and trauma no longer have a place in my life. I have been made whole. I have been set free. And I know without a doubt that what Jesus has done for me, He can and will do for anyone who truly surrenders to Him. With unshakable determination to spend my life serving Christ by helping others find the same freedom, stability, and purpose, I have committed myself fully to the work of the Kingdom. God has entrusted me to plant and lead an incredible church that is devoted to raising true disciples, people who live fully surrendered lives, not casual churchgoers or religious spectators. Our mission is to equip believers to walk in holiness, power, and real spiritual maturity.</image:title>
<image:caption>Beyond the church, I have been blessed to serve as a radio show host, a television host, an author, and a mentor to many. Every opportunity I have to speak or minister is driven by the same passion, to see people set free and made whole. I live to destroy the works of darkness, to speak truth in love, and to call people out of survival mode and into Kingdom identity.</image:caption>

<image:title>Her-story - Learning to Live Without Labels: What I’ve Learned About Letting Go - As a teen, the biggest desire in my heart for the future was to have children and be married. My experience as a latchkey kid in a single-parent household drove that desire. I wanted a different life for my kids, so when my marriage ended, I lost a part of my dream for the future—and the title of being a ‘wife.’ My second desire was to be a business owner. It didn’t matter what kind of business—I just didn’t want to work the way my mother did: working hard to fulfill someone else’s dreams while shelving her own. By the time I was 21, I had gone out on a limb with my future, ignoring my family’s request that I find a ‘more sensible career.’ Instead, I followed my gut and became a makeup artist.</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - From Scissors to Scripture: How God Called a Hairstylist to Pastor a Nation - My husband and I were attending a small church in a Northern Ontario community when an influx of teenagers started showing up. One day, our pastor said, “Well, you’re the closest to their age… we now dub you youth leaders.” We were honoured—also terrified. Teenagers have a way of doing that! To say we were green in the Word of God would be an understatement. I had to use the table of contents to find most books in the Bible. But we had willing hearts and an eagerness to serve. We dove into scripture alongside our newfound teen friends—and something ignited in me. A deep passion to make ministry part of my life, in whatever way God needed. Through several moves, I kept saying “yes” to youth ministry. One life-changing day, as I styled hair for Grade 8 grads in my salon, I got a phone call that shifted everything again. A former youth pastor friend—now a lead pastor in Sault Ste. Marie—offered me the role of youth pastor at his church. The church board had one request: I go to Bible college.</image:title>

My father’s side descended from Lutheran missionaries. My mother’s side traced its Christianity back to the Apostle Thomas, who supposedly landed on the shores of South India with sandals full of dust and conviction. This is the same family where you could be publicly disowned for forgetting the correct order of the Nicene Creed or for adding water to the sambar. I grew up with stories of ancestors who faced persecution but kept the faith. That legacy shaped me—but so did the strong women in my lineage. Not just the saintly ones with prayer-calloused knees, but the fierce ones who ran households, demanded justice, and raised children with nothing but hope and leftover rice. That combination—faith and fire—lives in my bones.</image:title>

Determined to be the daring woman By Cathie Ostapchuk - For someone who believed she was brave, I often found myself being the coward instead. I left much on the table regarding expressing my bold thoughts or taking decisive actions. I tried hard to emulate the bravery of others and spent years avoiding the exploration of what courage meant to me. I concealed myself behind an identity of performing for and pleasing others, gradually losing my voice and crafting excuses to remain hidden. There was a time when I struggled to reconcile who I was with who I wanted to become. So, I decided to give up. It’s only by God’s grace that I didn’t succeed.</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - From basketball camp to cop From mom to pastor’s wife - Growing up, my family did not attend church or have a faith to speak of. My dad would identify as an atheist, and I would describe my mom as "currently open to God, but not sure if she should join the club yet." When I was 13, I attended "NBC Camps" which was a weeklong basketball camp in Olds, Alberta. NBC camps is a Christian sports outreach organization that happens to coach excellent basketball. And at the time for me--basketball was life! I remember my coach giving me the pamphlet for the camps saying, "it's good basketball. They talk about God and religion and stuff, but you can just ignore that part." I smile now and think--God can use anyone for his kingdom purposes! That coach had no idea he was being used by God to change the course of my life! I remember absolutely loving the camp. The basketball was good, yes, but they actually proclaimed the Gospel as part of their program! I was so open to it. My parents had recently gone through a divorce that had rocked my world and I was hurting. I was desperate for love, guidance, and, well, good news!</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - Quin Cheung: Quinspired to shorten the distance between her and God! - Raised in a Christian home, I can’t deny that I’m a child of blessing. We were a typical first generation middle class Asian family figuring out our lives in Canada. While my family didn’t live a life of luxury, I never had to experience hunger, lack of clothing, persecution, nor physical danger. The worst issues to deal with were mean racist remarks on the playground, typical family dysfunction and normal teenage girl insecurities that probably crept further into my adult life longer than I’d like to admit. But in the scope of the world’s problems, I really had nothing to complain about. Growing up I was part of many wonderful church communities and friendships that helped foster an authentic relationship with the Lord. However as I grew into adulthood, my relationship with Jesus fluctuated between deep intimacy and walking daily in his presence, to constraining him to the sidelines of my life until I needed his closeness again. As life got busy with career, marriage, and kids, it just seemed easier to keep Jesus as a</image:title>

<image:title>Her-story - Brigitte’s story: A Journey of Faith, Resilience, and New Beginnings - I grew up in a Christian family in Quebec. I was raised to “shake it off,” get back up, and try again. I was always bold, and I even talked myself into getting baptized at a very young age. Our local church started in our living room in my hometown of Granby. Though my parents were Christians for as long as I can remember, I truly started to see God move in my life just before I relocated to Toronto a little over 28 years ago. I came to Ontario to escape a 10-year relationship with a young man who had cheated on me. I found out while he was in the ER following a motorcycle accident. After days of sleeping on the plastic benches in the hallway, he finally regained consciousness and served me the news. My world crumbled.</image:title>

<image:title>Spark - Under the couch cushions - I love my living room couch. It looks fabulous on the outside. But when the weekly cleaning comes along and I lift the cushions… you might need a hazmat suit! If your family is anything like mine, you’ll find nuts, cookie crumbs, loose change, chip bits, and possibly remnants of the COVID era. It’s all under there.</image:title>
<image:caption>On the surface, the couch looks great. Guests have sat on it many times. They see comfort, style, and order. What they don’t see is what’s been quietly accumulating underneath. Beneath the surface, there’s lots of junk. Our lives are the same.</image:caption>

<image:title>Spark - THE (self) LOVE QUIZ - Why Self-Love Matters</image:title>
<image:caption>As women of faith, we’re often taught to love and serve others well—but Jesus reminds us, “Love your neighbour as yourself” (Mark 12:31). That verse quietly invites an important question: how well do we actually love ourselves? There was a season in my life when rejection deeply shaped how I saw myself—particularly during a painful chapter in my marriage when my husband was involved in an affair. I didn’t just lose trust; I lost kindness toward myself. What I learned through healing is this: when we don’t honour who God created us to be, loving others becomes harder and heavier than it needs to be. Self-love isn’t selfish or prideful. From a faith perspective, it’s stewardship—agreeing with God about our worth and caring for the life He’s entrusted to us. This quiz is simply a moment to pause and reflect. No judgment—just awareness.</image:caption>

<image:title>Spark - When Bad News Hits Home: Choosing Hope Over Fear - When the bills are piling high, when you see more than 40% of your hard-earned money go to taxes, and when the price of groceries, electricity, and gas keeps skyrocketing, it’s hard not to feel overwhelmed. It’s hard not to stress. For many of us, faith is our anchor during tough times. We read about casting our burdens onto the Lord, choosing not to worry, not to fear, remembering that God goes before us, but let’s be honest, that’s easier said than done.</image:title>
<image:caption>My husband recently got served a plate of bad news. He’s been worried, and I’ll admit, we’ve had a couple of fights about moving forward from this situation. There is NOTHING he can do about it right this second, so as a newly self-proclaimed positive thinker, I keep coming back to the same truth: Ruminating, spiralling, speaking fear and negativity over the situation doesn’t solve it — it just amplifies it. I genuinely believe that refusing to speak life is choosing to make things worse.</image:caption>

<image:title>Spark - Promises, Promises: 50 Promises You Can Claim - Studies show that most people, even when there are no real consequences for breaking a promise, will still follow through. That’s good news, I guess. One study found that 61% to 74% of people actually keep their promises. When we don’t, it’s usually because of lack of time, forgetfulness, or financial strain. Interestingly, women tend to do a little better than men when it comes to keeping their word. About 60% of American adults said they keep promises to satisfy a loved one or to show they care, and the majority of those were women.</image:title>

<image:title>Spark - Give Thanks… Really? - Scripture reminds us of three life-giving practices: to rejoice always, to pray continually, and to give thanks in all circumstances. These words—always, continually, and in all circumstances— don’t point to occasional gestures, but to a consistent way of living.</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s easy to give thanks when everything is going well. But God calls us to gratitude even when life feels overwhelming. 1 Thessalonians 5:18: Give thanks in ALL circumstances… but why? Because thankfulness is more than good manners—it’s God’s will for us, and it shapes our faith, our perspective, and even our health.</image:caption>

<image:title>Spark - Where Did “Agreeing to Disagree” Go? - It feels like everywhere we look—in the news, online, or even on the road—we’re surrounded by rage, hatred, and negativity. Whatever happened to simply scrolling past, unfollowing quietly, or just moving on? The truth is, disagreement isn’t new. It’s part of being human. My business partner of 12 years and I disagree often, and even my own son—who I love more than life—doesn’t always share my views. And yet, our love and respect for one another outweigh our differences. We “agree to disagree.” For us, that means when our choices diverge, we still honour the person. If we clash with those who know us best, how much more should we expect to differ with strangers who don’t know us at all?</image:title>

It’s where the story shifts—when what was lost is found, when death gives way to life, when blindness becomes sight, when there was no way…</image:title>
<image:caption>Those two simple words are packed with possibilities. They speak of a God who interrupts despair with hope, impossibility with promise, and endings with new beginnings. <image:title>Spark - Allow Joy To Reintroduce Himself - We build our happiness around people, accomplishments, and things. And I think that’s why so many marriages crumble, why people grow to resent their dream jobs—because we’ve made our joy conditional on outcomes. I’ll be honest: I’ve often tied my happiness to achievement. And sometimes, I’ve seen God the same way—believing He wanted to use me to accomplish something. But this message from Pastor Tauren Wells reminded me of a deeper truth: the greatest treasure is simply being loved by God—because He is the essence of joy. Pastor David Murray once described seven kinds of happiness: Nature happiness Social happiness Vocational happiness Physical happiness Intellectual happiness Humor happiness Spiritual happiness</image:title>
